How To Clean Dishwasher With Vinegar And Baking Soda – How To Clean Dishwasher Filter

Hi, today I’ll be showing you how to clean your dishwasher with vinegar and baking soda. Cleaning a dishwasher is a long process, which is why I recommend starting earlier in the day so you’ll have a clean dishwasher before bed. Your dishwasher will do most of the work, so don’t feel overwhelmed reading these steps or watching this cleaning video.

Warning!

Make sure to always read your dishwasher’s manual on how often, and how to properly clean your dishwasher. This is how I clean my dishwasher, your dishwasher might have a different way.

1) Make sure you have no dishes in your dishwasher. Unload the dishes if you need to.

2) Pick up any food on the bottom of your dishwasher.

3) Check your dishwasher’s manual to see how often you should wash your dishwasher. I looked up my dishwashers manual online, and I’m glad I did. I didn’t know that my dishwasher had two filters instead of one. I also needed to clean the filters monthly. I know for a fact that I wasn’t cleaning the filters regularly. Oops.

I usually rinse the filters in hot water. Or, I soak the filter in a mixture of one part water with 1 part vinegar to remove the gunk. Use a soft sponge to wipe the gunk off. Then put the filters back into the dishwasher.

4) Make sure your garbage disposal is free of food particles. Turn on your garbage disposal for a couple of seconds while the water is running.

5) Now the fun part begins. Pour 1 cup of vinegar in a measuring cup and place the measuring cup on the top rack in the dishwasher.

6) Run the dishwasher on the full cycle.

7) When the cycle is complete. Open your dishwasher and carefully take the hot measuring cup and pour the water out into the sink.

8) Then sprinkle 1 cup of baking soda on the bottom of your dishwasher. Run a short cycle on the hottest setting.

9) After the cycle is complete, you’ll have a dishwasher that looks shiny and clean, but we still need to clean the dishwasher seal. The seal might look disgusting and probably has a lot of germs that you need to wipe off. Use a toothbrush or a small brush dipped in vinegar to scrub off the bacteria.

If the gunk is tough to get rid of, try using the dishwashers detergent mixed with a little bit of water. Just make sure to rinse the seals after your done scrubbing.

10) Now spray the outside of the dishwasher with your favorite all-purpose spray. I like to use all-purpose method spray, but I’ve also used a cleaning solution made of one part water with one part vinegar. Then give your dishwasher a quick wipe with a clean, dry microfiber cloth. Make sure you use a correct microfiber cloth for your appliance so you won’t scratch the dishwasher.

That’s how you clean your dishwasher.

Thank you for stopping by and have a good day!
